Volunteer Opportunities in Cumming, Georgia

Have you always wanted to volunteer in the community but don’t know where to start? Here at Got Bugs, we’ve done some digging and found three equally wonderful volunteer opportunities in Cumming for you and your family to take advantage of this year.

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful

Keep Forsyth County Beautiful is a nonprofit affiliate of the Keep America Beautiful program and a great source for planning volunteer outings throughout the year. By targeting areas of Forsyth County most in need of attention, they focus on projects involving waste reduction, water quality, recycling, litter prevention, and beautification. Keep Forsyth County Beautiful even keeps their website calendar updated so you can keep up with their scheduled events. The next opportunity to get involved is on September 15th, where they will be helping with Lake Lanier's 30th Annual Shore Sweep. Anyone interested in helping can find out more information here.

Food For Thought Project

If you’re looking for an opportunity that will directly benefit fellow members of the Forsyth County community, the Food For Thought Project, Inc is a great place to get started. They are a Cumming-based charity designed to help provide and deliver non-perishable food items to local pantries in need. Volunteers are only needed for 3 hours on the second Saturday of every other month, so for those of you with busy schedules, this is the perfect opportunity to pitch in. The next collection day is on August 11th, and getting involved is as easy as filling out their contact form!

Humane Society of Forsyth County

Calling all animal lovers - if you’re enthusiastic about helping dogs and cats find good homes and care in the Cumming community, look no further than the Humane Society of Forsyth County. They are a privately funded organization that has been serving the community for over 40 years, and have already helped more than 20,000 animal find loving homes. As the largest no-kill, non-profit humane center in Forsyth County, HSFC is always looking for volunteers who are eager to aid their four-legged friends in a variety of ways. This includes occasions to get involved at the shelter, special events, or helping out with business functions.
